How To Register for Course

Received a Reckless Driving Ticket in Virginia?

Reckless driving in Virginia is a Class 1 misdemeanor—similar to a DWI or assault—and carries serious penalties and long-term consequences.

Important Points:

  • You cannot pre-pay a reckless driving ticket. You must appear in traffic court, either personally or via an attorney.

  • Missing your court date may result in a judge issuing a warrant for your arrest.

Maximum Penalties for Conviction:

  • 6 demerit points on your driving record for 11 years

  • Up to 12 months in jail

  • Driver’s license suspension up to 6 months

  • Fines up to $2,500

  • Auto insurance premium increases for 3 years

  • Potential issues with security clearance

  • Possible job loss or career impact

  • Permanent criminal record (Class 1 misdemeanor)

Recommended Reckless/Aggressive Driver Course

We strongly recommend completing a 4-hour Reckless/Aggressive Driver Course before your court date if you have any of the following tickets:

  • Reckless Driving

  • Aggressive Driving

  • DWI/DUI

  • Possession

  • Driving on a Suspended License

Who Can Enroll:

  • Individuals with reckless driving or aggressive driving violations

  • Court-referred participants

  • Attorney-referred participants

Course Structure:

  • A 12-hour education program may be taken (8-hour DIP Course + 4-hour Reckless Course).

  • The 8-hour DIP Course is recommended as a pre-requisite for the 4-hour Reckless/Aggressive Driver Course, but it is not mandatory to complete first.

4-Hour Reckless/Aggressive Driver Course

This course covers:

  • Causes of reckless driving and psychological aspects of aggressive driving

  • Techniques to avoid dangerous driving situations

  • Practical skills from the Driver Improvement Program that can be applied in everyday driving

Additional Benefits:

  • Traffic court preparation, coaching, and guidance provided

  • Frequently ordered by judges in Virginia; many students are attorney-referred

Certificate of Completion Can Help:

  • Increase chances of ticket reduction in traffic court

  • Possibly prevent license suspension or obtain a restricted license

4-Hour Reckless/Aggressive Driver Course – Herndon, VA

  • Location: Taught at our Herndon, VA office

  • Materials: Course workbook and supplies provided

  • Class Format: Participation-based, no final test

  • Certificate: Issued the same day upon meeting course requirements

    • Lost certificates can be re-issued for a $30 fee

    • It is your responsibility to present the certificate to your attorney, judge, or court

  • Documentation: Bring any attorney/court letters or police tickets you received

  • Note: This is not a Driver Improvement Program and does not award good points on your driving record

Walk-In Registration – $110

  • Pay on the day of class with cash or money order only

  • No debit/credit cards accepted in person

  • Checks are not allowed

Class-Day Instructions – 4-Hour Reckless/Aggressive Course

  • Do NOT arrive early to register.

  • Arrive at class start time and do not be late.

  • Upon arrival, inform staff that you are attending the 4-hour Reckless/Aggressive Course.

What to Bring
  1. Printed Confirmation Page (Pre-Registration Form)

    • Phone screenshots or emails will not be accepted

    • If paid by card, payment shows on the page; if paid by cash, bring exact change or money order

    • No checks allowed

  2. Valid ID (Driver’s License, Learner’s Permit, or DMV-issued ID)

    • If your license is lost or suspended, bring a photo ID + DMV letter, driving record, receipt, or police-issued ticket

    • No valid ID = no certificate issued
